The au pair journey of Yolanda from Mexico

Having the opportunity to see the world through different lenses is one of the most amazing gifts that being an Au Pair will  provide to you. For me, those lenses come from specially 3 different perspectives:  my host family’s , host kid & friends.
First, living and sharing a different culture with such an incredible, caring and kind family has provide me with the desire to improve myself and copy what I love about them, for example, being always open to help, listen, make a cup of coffee for everyone , being organized and specially being always willing to learn.
My host kid has become such an special part of my life and everyday he makes me feel surprised about how much he knows and how keen is to learn. We have so much fun and we usually laugh a lot.
I understand that during this Covid time is difficult or doubtful whether you should go for an Au Pair year or not.  My advice will always be DO IT because it’s specially during difficult times where you have the chance to find your true self and there is no better way to do so than being exposed to so many different lifestyles, religions and cultures.
In fact, traveling is not easy during this time, but you still have the POWERFUL opportunity to travel within yourself and discover who you truly are. For me, I encounter my host parents as role models for both my personal and professional development and my Host kid as an inspiration to keep learning and loving with all my heart.
On the other hand, during this year I’ve had the chance to meet friends that became my family. We always find a positive way to cope homesickness, covid anxiety and all negative aspects that the lockdown involve. That makes me super happy as I’ve had the most incredible and fun days with them no matter the weather, lockdown or anything, we always rock ;D
I believe there is no a right time or age, to step out of your comfort zone and start a new adventure.
